Do you have a passion for public services? Are you interested in how behavioural science can help to solve complex social problems? Are you naturally curious? IMPOWER is expanding and looking for enthusiastic, intellectually curious, empathetic and motivated team players to join us as Managers.

Our Managers are primarily responsible for managing our project teams, ensuring that our high-quality bespoke solutions meet individual client requirements, using our EDGEWORK® approach. Candidates will have a good understanding of the challenges and opportunities in local government and healthcare.

They must have previous experience managing consulting projects, and would be desirable if this experience was gained through public sector or social care backgrounds. They will be naturally curious about what drives behaviours and interested in solving complex problems, and able to build positive and collaborative relationships with client staff. They will have good organisation skills, and will want to invest in their own learning and development. They will care about quality and will have strong attention to detail. They will share IMPOWER’s passion for people, and will share our ambition to be the best management consultancy working exclusively in local public services.


  • Responsible for the management of project teams
  • Ensures successful delivery of projects to a high quality through IMPOWER’s EDGEWORK® approach
  • Ensures project work is delivered in line with commitments made with the client to the agreed commercial envelope
  • Responsible for the development of staff on site and direct reports, including completion of their annual appraisals and pastoral welfare
  • Responsible for building positive relationships with our clients and client staff on site
  • Supports sharing insights across projects and the wider company, and contributes to profile and communication plans including blogs
  • Proactive personal development

Skills and Experience

  • 3-5 years previous experience managing projects, specifically within a consulting environment
  • Experienced and knowledgeable of UK public services and/or social issues
  • Commercial management abilities with regards to project budgets
  • Strong people and team management skills
  • Emotionally intelligent, understands how to work in values-based organisations and environments
  • Team driven
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Strong Microsoft Office capabilities

Location: Nationwide, with a London head office

Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week

Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 + 20% discretionary annual bonus
