For the 2011 LGC Summit iMPOWER took part in one of the partner workshops discussing ‘Behaviour Change and Demand Management – saving money by improving relationships with citizens’.
Our approach to the workshop was to discuss how unbalanced relationships between local government and citizens leads to inherent waste and unsustainable demand. Together with our clients we have been pioneering a range of new approaches to demand management which are unlocking this waste – and saving money in the short, medium and long term. We want to share how this is done and how the lessons can be applied across a wide range of public services. The Summit workshop session covered the following:
How can we deal with runaway demand in children’s and adult services?
This workshop was delivered by Jon Ainger, Director, iMPOWER & & LGC Top 50 Ones to Watch.
The session was well-attended a stimulated a really good discussion about how demand management and behaviour change could be applied in other areas; how scalable the ideas were and how this could work locally. Participants took away a short pack of information for further reading and it has stimulated a number of follow-up conversations with a range of Chief Executives.
