Georgina Owen, manager

imageGeorgina comes from a background of designing to address social needs.  In the course of completing her Masters in Design Engineering from the Royal College of Art, she designed microwaves for the elderly, navigational aids for the blind and an ultrasonic dishwasher suitable for those living alone, the latter for which she was a finalist in the Royal Society of Arts Student Awards.

Ten years at Accenture provided Georgina with experience in delivering change and IT systems across a variety of industry sectors, including local and central government.  Georgina joined ITNET (bought by Serco) to design IT-enabled change programmes for local government, and in the last two years has specialised in adult and children’s services. Georgina helped to develop the practice for Serco in areas such as mobile enablement, the Integrated Children’s Agenda, the Single Assessment Process and the Common Assessment Framework.  Georgina was also responsible for developing the Serco thought leadership in how the greater focus on independent living could be better supported through integrated information management.

Away from work, Georgina lives in the middle of nowhere in deepest darkest Worcestershire, surrounded by a menagerie of horses and dogs.  She is also trustee and secretary of the UK Charity, Friends of Tafo, which is helping improve health, education and infrastructure in the small town of Kwahu-Tafo, in Ghana.
