As a business, iMPOWER is aware of the impact that we have on both the community and environment that we operate in. Our community involvement programme allows us to make a formal commitment to investing both time and skills into our local community, as well as ensuring we do all that we can in terms of being environmentally responsible.
The foundation of our community involvement programme is our charity partner relationship which is selected by staff nomination and vote each year. Our charity partner until April 2009 is Disability Action in Islington (DAII).
DAII is an organisation run by and for disabled people. DAII aim to support disabled people, so that they:
- gain more control and choice over their lives
- have better access to services and opportunities
- are able to challenge exclusion and discrimination.
DAII also works to raise awareness of the needs, interests and views of disabled people in Islington and to promote a more accessible and inclusive environment.
DAII meet their aims by providing a range of free, high quality, fully accessible and innovative services that help equip disabled people with the information, knowledge, support, training and opportunities they need to live the lives they want.
iMPOWER’s community involvement programme has been recognised as a 2006 Business in the Community (BITC) Big Tick winner and was further highly commended as a BITC national example of excellence for Impact on Society by a small company. iMPOWER was also the winner of the 2006 Lord Mayor’s Heart of the City Dragon Award.
Environmental policy
iMPOWER is ISO 14001 certified which ensures that we behave in an environmentally responsible way in all that we do. We seek to work with suppliers who feel the same way as we do about the environment and are committed to sourcing “green” office supplies and products whenever possible.
